, William Shakespeare is an English poet, known for may plays that are classified as

romantic and comical. The Tempest, probably written in 1610, is said to be one of the last plays

that Shakespeare wrote. Many of his poems and plays captured the audiences emotion as well as

filled the audience with laughter. As time progresses, many of William Shakespeare’s plays are

recreated and preformed throughout the world.

At the Savage Rose Classical Theatre Company’s, The Tempest was preformed in June

2014 and recorded. The staging seemed very simple. There are two staircases where characters

can walk on and off of the stage in-between scenes. Right next to the stage is a platform that the

main character, Prospero, can sit and stand throughout his performance. The lighting was dark

the play. The mood and tone in the play began as getting vengeance, but is later forgiven. It is

shown as two character begin to fall in love. Some will say that The Tempest had more of a

neoclassical style due to the different tones and modes throughout the play. Neoclassicism is the

and architecture that draws inspiration from the “classical” art and culture of classical antiquity

(Neoclassical,2019). There were times where the tones were quit serious and dark comical,

whereas, the ended is told in a happier mode and tone when everything is forgiven. At times, it

was hard to follow along to what was going on because I could not understand some of the

dialogue that was being used. However, the play was created in a more simpler manner in order
